Building a Connected Community

As part of our church’s greater mission to build and strengthen community at United Church, we offer opportunities for community group connection among members and friends of United Church. The Community Groups come together for fellowship and spiritual practice to deepen and nourish our faith together in community.

  • Why Community Groups?

Are you longing for deeper connection to members of the church? Are you looking for fellowship and new friends? Are you wishing to deepen your faith within your Christian community?
If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, then this program is for you!

“Who can be in a group?”, you ask.
Well, everyone! Families with young children, as well as teens. Singles, couples, and adults of ALL ages.

Our intention is to find a Community Group for ALL who wish to participate.

If you sign-up to participate in the program, we will work to find a Community Group near you. We have groups in Carrboro, Chapel Hill, Durham, Pittsboro, Hillsborough and Burlington. We match you (and your family) to a group based on demographics, number in household, and need.

Each Community Group has a TEAM LEADER who has had orientation and training. A Team Leader helps facilitate group activities and meetups, as well as lead groups in simple spiritual practice.

  • Becoming a Team Leader

A Community Group Team Leader is devoted to our church community, likes hosting or organizing gatherings, and enjoys making deeper connections with people. If you recognize any of these traits, then you might have the makings to become a Team Leader in our Small Group Ministry program.
