The Southern Conference of the United Church of Christ announces the 1st ever African American Convocation.

United Church is joining our neighbors in the Southern Conference for an inaugural Convocation of African American churches. We’ve accepted the invitation of our Conference Minister, Rev. Dr. Edward Davis, to participate in this three-day event that includes opportunities for worship, workshops, and outreach.

Confirmed Conference Convocation Speakers include: Rev. Kenneth L. Samuel (D.Min.), Senior Pastor of Victory for the World Church in Atlanta, Georgia and Rev. Jim Forbes (D.Min.), Pastor Emeritus of Riverside Church, NYC and Founder/President of Healing of the Nations. Workshops based on the 7 P’s: Power, Principalities, Pentecost, Prophecy, Proclamation, Partnerships and Prayer; designed to empower, educate and equip your ministries, to confront injustice and engage in prophetic witness in our communities, nation and world. Ten relevant, timely and transformative workshops will be expertly led by skilled presenters. The following are a few of the workshops that will be offered: Where have all the prophets gone? Equipping pastors for prophetic preaching and teaching; Moving from charity to justice: Equipping laity for prophetic ministries; The church as a safe space: Disrupting the cradle to prison pipeline and Can we talk: The Church confronting domestic and sexual violence to name a few.

Relevant Outreach Opportunities: Conference participants will have occasion to provide assistance to the Raleigh Rescue Mission and participate in prayer vigil at Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Gardens in Raleigh.
One component of the Convocation is an outreach ministry chaired by Rev. Eric Griffin (D.Min), St. Stephens UCC in Greensboro N.C. Raleigh Rescue Mission has confirmed that a spokesperson will attend to speak about the work of their agency and offer ways that the African-American Churches in Raleigh and the whole of Southern Conference can further partner with them. They will also receive our donations at that time as well.

3. Underwear for women in all sizes
4. Underwear for men in all sizes
