Seder Passover Dinner
Wednesday, March 25 (5:45 pm)
Every year Jews all over the world gather together to celebrate God’s great act of deliverance, bringing a mixed group of Hebrew slaves out of Egypt and giving them a chance of “new life”.
The Passover meal, or Seder, is a communal, family meal that honors that deliverance and celebrates freedom for ALL people. Jesus celebrated the Passover with his disciples in the Upper Room. They shared food and fellowship while he said blessings and in the context of this reenactment of their freedom from bondage in Egypt, he revealed the mystery of God’s new covenant that would be the ultimate act of redemption.
There will be a time of candle lighting and prayers. We will taste strange foods that symbolize slavery, freedom, and new birth. There will be songs of praise and lifting of glasses. There will be readings from scripture along with questions asked and answered. There will be a treasure hunt for the children and a fellowship dinner consisting of traditional Jewish Passover cuisine (plus turkey or chicken, potatoes, and vegetables).
