The Open and Affirming ministry is sponsoring a meal for our church’s Light Up Your Winter series which will raise money for our Open and Affirming ministry which supports LGBTQ people & their friends/family, as well as our church’s annual mission to Honduras which supports LGBTQ people in Honduras. Donations will help support these ministries.

Also we are offering the following during the meal, to help celebrate why these ministries are important:The Open and Affirming (ONA) Ministry of UCCH will share their project “Why ONA is Important to Me” story board and testimonials.

The ONA was formed to help ensure a safe and welcoming place for those who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or queer and to foster full inclusion into the ministry and outreach service of UCCH. UCCH was a ground-breaking institution in 1993 by adopting an Open and Affirming ministry and we want to keep this legacy vibrant.  In light of the legislation in North Carolina, HB2, as well as fears surrounding what the future will hold for the LGBT community under the upcoming administration, we feel it’s even more important for our stories to be told INCLUDING those of our many allies.
