The Feast of Saint Nicholas- an event for everyone! In collaboration with Chapel of the Cross and the Morehead Planetarium we invite you to a concert and dinner to celebrate the Feast of St. Nicholas on December 6. The evening includes a light supper and crafts at Chapel of the Cross. After dinner, we will process to the Morehead Planetarium where our youth and children's choirs will join voices with the choirs of Chapel of the Cross to sing selections that capture the spirit of the season. The concert will be followed by a dazzling star show in the theater of the planetarium. Join us for this unique, collaborative evening that is sure to be a feast of sustenance, song and stars. Taizé is a style of Christian worship that originated in Taizé, France, some 75 years ago. It is woven with Christian song and chants, prayerful silence, and scripture readings. The effect is profound and takes one deeper, beyond intellect, into the very heart of worship.
Come and enjoy a Christmas Party with friends and family. Heavy hors d’oeuvres served at 5:45 pm. Carol singing and Santa’s visit begin at 6 pm. Please bring desserts to share. Music by UCCH Brass Ensemble!
The Women’s Group Christmas Potluck and Gift Exchange will be December 16. Pat Langelier will be our host for this annual event. Please bring a dish to share for dinner and an anonymous wrapped item for the Yankee Swap gift exchange. All women of the church are invited. Wednesday, December 18 at 6:30pm; Pre-service Music at 6:15pm by the Commas. In this candlelight service the Christmas Narrative is told through selected passages of scripture and poetry. The Grace Notes, Junior, Choir, Youth Choir and Chancel Choir will lead carols and anthems that bring the story of Christ’s coming to light.
This lively service includes carols, an interactive reading of the nativity story and communion. We’ll provide nativity costumes but if your child would enjoy being one of the animals at the manger, he or she may wear their own costume. You are invited to bring an inexpensive baby gift for Jesus (bibs, spoons, lotions, diapers), which will be given to families of newborns in need. Following the service, we’ll move to the Assembly Hall for a birthday party for Jesus. Cake and punch will be served.
Reverend David Mateo will be preaching. Music led by La Mesa Band.
Reverend Cameron Barr will preach and the Chancel Choir and Chamber Singers will lead the music.
Celebrate New Year’s Eve at United Church. The Bradshaw Quartet and friends will once again present an evening of jazz standards and originals at 7 pm on New Year’s Eve. An offering will be taken for the Interfaith Council for Social Service (IFC).
