A Choral Workshop on Negro Spirituals with Dr. Ginger Jones-Robinson

In celebration of Juneteenth, The Negro Spirituals Royalties Project Committee of United Church of Chapel Hill is sponsoring a choral workshop on Negro Spirituals with Dr. Ginger Jones-Robinson on Saturday, June 3. Dr. Ginger will direct the workshop choir and congregation in worship at UCCH the next day. All are welcome – please share the invitation!

A lunch of pupusas and panes con pollo will be served at 12 p.m. on Saturday, provided by Xenia Carcamo of Maestros Apoyando a Maestros (Teachers Helping Teachers). 

The registration fee includes lunch and helps ensure that UCCH can continue to present projects like this. Scholarships are available, so don’t let the cost stop you! See the poster and registration form for further details.

Ginger Jones-Robinson, soprano, earned her Bachelor’s degree in Music Education at the University of North Carolina in Greensboro and her Master of Music degree from the University of South Carolina.  She recently completed her Doctor of Musical Arts degree, also from the University of South Carolina with a focus on vocal music by George Walker. Ginger has appeared as a soloist with the Lake Murray Symphony Orchestra, the Masterworks Choir of Florence, SC, the Raleigh Chamber Orchestra, the Tar River Orchestra, the Concert Singers of Cary, USC Symphony Orchestra, Charleston Chamber Opera, the Colour of Music Festival, the Charleston Symphony Orchestra Spiritual Ensemble, the Brevard Philharmonic, the South Carolina Philharmonic, Hickory Choral Society, and the Kronos Quartet. Currently, she is the choral director at Grandview Middle School in Hickory, NC. She is moving to this area this summer to be the choral director at Northern High School in Durham.
