United Church of Chapel Hill is a covenantal church. As a community of believers in Jesus Christ, we agree to live together to continue to learn, understand, interpret, and practice the teachings of Jesus and the Holy Scriptures. While we respect Christian creeds and statements of faith, we do not use them as a test of our faith. We developed these covenants as promises we make to each other about our priorities and values as Christian people.

Easter Worship Service 2021

Creation Covenant: “From the earliest times God’s people have born faithful witness to the goodness of God’s creation…”

Economic Justice Covenant: “God blesses the world with abundance, yet so many continue to live in poverty and suffering…”

Open and Affirming Covenant: “With confidence in Christ, we step forward to affirm people of diverse sexual orientation as part of God’s creation.”

Racial, Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Covenant:
“Trusting in the grace of God that overflows with faith and love,
we acknowledge that we have constructed and sustained the false concept of race,
with systemic racism embedded in our nation, institutions, and selves…”
