BACKGROUND

Richard and Jill Edens requested that the congregation give to a scholarship fund that would financially support members of UCCH who plan or are attending and United Church of Christ seminary. For years, we have had the unique honor of having one and sometime multiple members be in discernment to enter the ministry.  Obtaining a Master of Divinity is expensive and historically nearly every graduate leaves with debt. The Edens hoped that the United Church of Chapel Hill would help ease that burden. Prior to their departure, UCCH raised a over $11,000. It is the plan of the Governing Board to award up to $7,500 for 3 years each year based on the success of ongoing fundraising.
