Alamance Orange Prison Ministry

Our church joins with other Orange & Alamance County congregations in outreach ministries at Orange Correctional Center located in Hillsborough. The facility is a minimum security unit housing persons, some of whom are preparing to re-enter society. Chaplain Josh LeRoi provides support to the residents and serves as a liaison to prison outreach activities such as Yokefellows.

UCCH supports prison ministries by providing funding for the Prison Chaplain and volunteers to the Yokefellows ministry, leading a book drive for residents and their children, and providing funding and volunteers to reentry programs such as Benevolence Farm (a housing and employment program for women in Graham) and ReEntry House Plus (a housing, education, and employment program for men in Hillsborough).

Yokefellows provide connection to residents of the correctional center by participating in group meetings at the facility and by accompanying approved residents as they spend time in the community prior to their release.  If you are interested in providing support and companionship to the residents at this prison, please contact the church office for more information. An application and training is required to participate in these activities.

People of Faith Against the Death Penalty

This is a special project of the NC Council of Churches that organizes and educates within churches about issues related to the death penalty. It sponsors two outreach programs, one to families of murder victims and one that links death row inmates to pen pals.
