An event every week that begins at 6:30 pm on Wednesday, repeating until October 5, 2016
Join us at 5:45 pm for our Wednesdays Together Fellowship Dinner and stay for this program of music and fun led by Jenny Anderson.
In her book, Imperfect Harmony, Stacy Horn writes: “I used to think choir singing was only was for nerds and church people….Singing might be our most perfect drug; the ultimate mood regulator, lowering rates of anxiety, depression and loneliness, while at the same time amplifying happiness and joy, with no discernible, unpleasant side effects. The nerds and the church people had it right.”
The good news is that the singing “drug” is available to all! Some people think you have to be a stellar musician to be in our (or any other) choir. This is simply not true! However, to get the most out of singing there ARE some basic music-reading skills you can acquire so that will give you confidence and make you an asset to any choir.
In this class, Jenny Anderson boils music reading down to the three most important skills you need to become a confident choral singer. We will cover a different skill in each of the first three weeks, and then put all these skills together in the fourth week.
This series of classes is for those who have never read music before, for those who used to read music but are a little rusty, and for those that just want to hone their skills. Whether you hang out with the “nerds and the church people” in one of our choirs, or you just want to get better at reading music, this class is for you!
