United Church of Chapel Hill 1321 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Chapel Hill

University United Methodist Church, 150 E. Franklin St. Chapel Hill Co-sponsored by Youth Choirs of United Church of Chapel Hill and University United Methodist Church, Chapel Hill The award-winning youth choir, Vivida Banda (“Rasselbunde” in German, or “A Gang of Rascals”) from St. Peters Church in Weinheim, Germany, will begin their U.S. tour this summer with a concert at University United Methodist Church in Chapel Hill. They will present a varied program of music of Germany, England, and the United States, from Schubert to Josh Groban. Vivida Banda is the most advanced choir of the St. Peters Church Singschule (song school). Children begin singing with the Singschule from the age of 1 and continue through the age of 21 in a graded choral program. They sing music of all epochs and genres – the only requirement for the young people to like the music is that it is of high quality. Vivida Banda regularly sings in services and concerts in and around Weinheim, which is near Mannheim. Founded in 2009 by their current director, Anne Langenbach, Vivida Banda won the prestigious ECHO Klassik award for promoting young people in 2013, and in recent years have sung at Rosengarten, Congress Center Mannheim, and on ZDF television. They make a concert tour every two years. This is their first tour to the United States.
